The wonderful hot summer has flown by, but the coming autumn is not a reason to feel upset. Although the weather does not always allow us to enjoy leisure in the nature, cultural life is gaining momentum. Hosting the title of the Autumn Capital of Estonia since September 22 Narva is undoubtedly the best place to take full advantage of the opportunities this season presents.
Being the autumn capital for three months Narva is going to be the centre of cultural life. Between 22 September and 21 December numerous concerts, theatre performances, exhibitions and various festivals will take place at various city venues. The ample program of the Autumn Capital is always available on the city’s website.
This year will host the already traditional festivals IdeeJazz and KinoFF, as well as the international historical festival Winter Battle, which reconstructs the battle between Russian and Swedish troops during the Northern War.
On September 22 and 23, within the framework of the Night of Scientists festival, the Narva Museum invites everybody to lectures, master classes and excursions to the tea exhibition.
Before the end of October, there is still time to take part in an excursion to Krenholm, which has been attracting many visitors for several years already.
You can see another Narva landmark - the scale model of Old Narva – when you go on a guided tour of the exhibition "Old. New. Narva. 1684/1984 ... 2034".
In the casemates of the Victoria Bastion, guests are always welcome and the guides will be happy to tell the fascinating history of the bastions on excursions in the bastion’s tunnels.
Starting from this year, an information point of RMK is open in Narva. Here, in addition to information about recreation opportunities in Estonian forests, nature theme events are held. For instance, on October 9 an evening of films about nature will take place.
Autumn nature with colorful leaves and transparent air is so pleasing for the eye, and you should definitely take advantage of the opportunity to enjoy this beauty. Until the end of September, you can still get to Narva-Jõesuu by Narva river tram. Take pleasure in watching the banks of the river while breathing in the clean river air!
In the sports and recreation area Äkkeküla, there is an all-season tubing, playgrounds and a pump track, so the kids will also have something to do in the fresh air. And the walking trails are a great place to jog or walk on a wonderful fall day.
